Default 1.8 vs 2.0?

Hey guys...I'm a potential Audi A4 owner. I have been looking around for a good deal, and have a few questions for you that are familiar with the car. Now, I read all the newbie guides that I could find, and foundmany 1.8/2.8/3.0 comparisons, and had narrowed my choice to the 1.8. Yet, what about the 05 2.0? What's the modability of it? Does it respond as well to chips as the 1.8 does? How about other mod options? What are the differences aside from the front bumper?

Thus far, I am certain that I want an A4 with quattro, in manual, and a turbo'd model...color is undecided, but I would really like a factory navigation system (hence, my interest in the 2.0 model).

I searched before asking this, and don't think I found anything that was too helpful, so maybe you guys can alleviate some of the confusion?

Thanks a lot.

the 2.0's take just fine too chips, actually you get a little more hp. for mods your looking in the same bout as the 1.8 minus a little because the 2.0 is newer and theres still allot in the works for it, as far as parts and mods. the 2.0 also uses the fsi engine, and I'm pretty sure none of the 1.8's do? correct me if I'm wrong? but that'll give you some better fuel economy.

so basically if you have the $$ to go for a 2.0 id say do it. but of course its up to you.

YA, I'd go 2.0t as well. I believe that a chipped 1.8t brings it to about what the 2.0t is stock. There are a lot of good companies that have mods available for the 2.0t engines. I saw a white one my way to work this morning that looked sexy.

2.0t stronger and better engine, still fairly new so not as many upgrades as teh good ol 1.8t but getting there, the 2.0 is FSi and only 4 valves per cylinder so its a bit stonger since teh 5 vavles ont eh 1.8t are fairly weak. and the FSi and high compression give more power compared the 1.8t

We have both A4's. 05 1.8T and 07 2.0T
The 2.0T motor is a bit noiser. It uses more oil. The interior is nicer. and the ride is better.
Gas mileage on the 1.8 is better but not by much. Both cars are used highway and city.
Both never needs service. The 1.8 is faster.
