gives you guys an idea of the power of the two cars with some small mods


well the other day i did an extensive test with my 01 a4 1.8t and a firends 99 2.8 and here are the results

1.8T mods- giac, carbino intake, borla DP back exhaust, balies DV
- car also about 220 pounds of stereo ****
2.8 mods- cat back exhaust with maganaflow muffler, drop in k&n filter


off the line (rollinga at 5km): we were head to until i hit about 3,000rpm once boost kicked in i took him by about 1/4 of a car once i hitsecon i was about 1/2 a car and could have pulled him about a car in 2ed but ran olut of road. at higher speed around 90km+ we were head to head the whole time no one could pull and lengths.

the 2.8 onwer wishes he bought a 1.8t instead of his 2.8 and regrets getting the 2.8

 

You should have been able to spank the 2.8 around a little more than that... Maybe if you took your stereo stuff out....

 

That's totally gay you have more stuff on the 1.8T, why didn't you drop in the supercharger in the 2.8 and try agian.

 

Because the 2.8 already makes close to the power of a chipped 1.8t. and they both have exhausts and intake mods.. Id say it was fair.

 

these are the most common mods for the 2 cars. and not everyone can afford a supercharger for their 2.8's

and ya the stereo does slow me down quite a bit [:@] i have to get ridof it

 

if the 2.8 was supercharged, that would take it out of the chipped 1.8t league and then would therefore be "gay".

 

If you were a better driver you would have smoked him. You should have been at 3k or so at launch, so you are already boosting. If you let the clutch out and let it grab a bit till you start moving, you can then let the clutch out all the way and floor it. Then your first gear would be from 3k to shifting. You'll never drop below 3k if you shift at 6.5k.
Next time, let me drive.......and we'll hand him his aszz.

lol who are you to say that i cant drive? have you ever seen me drive before no. and also this wasent a hardcore race. me and the 2.8 were leaving a frends house at teh same time and decided to have a fun little race up the street. and on the higher speed raceds the 1.8 had 2 people in it pluss teh system and teh 2.8 had only the driver

 

The 1.8t vs 2.8 question has been answered many times before... And the ANSWER has always been the same....
