Default 1.8T or 2.8?

alright, i've been looking into getting a 2000+ A4 soon, and its going to be my secon car(have a civic, had big plans for it, but creeps around here suck) im still trying to decide between the 1.8 and the 2.8 though, from what i've been searching it seems like the 2.8 is more reliable and you cant mod the 2.8 as much. i've been kinda leaning toward the 2.8, and all i really wanted to mod performance wise is the intake, headers, nd full exhaust, mayb a chip. if thats all i wanna mod do you think i should just go with the 2.8? way down the road i'm probally gunna be looking in2 a S4, so i guess i can just mod the shyt outa that

I'd go with the 1.8t if I were you. It sounds like you won't be able to not mod the car. The 2.8 just really isn't that responsive to mods sans the supercharger.

im lookin for more reliability, its not gunna be a race car, thats where the S4 or evo will come in, all i plan on doin is intake, full exhaust, mayb a chip for the motor. tint the windows, get a system, drop it, mayb some rims for the summer months, nd thats basically it

Sounds like you are looking for the 2.8 then. I would advise against the chip for it though. Half the people can't even tell a diff after chipping.

Exactly what jest said. If you hang around here at all, you will end up modding, and you will wish you would have gotten a 1.8T.

you guys are probally right i'll probally end up going with the 1.8, lol but now heres the real question, which one sounds better with a full exhaust? does the 1.8 sound like a ricer ? and does the 2.8 sound kinda performance orianted? like i heard a 2.8 GTI with a full exhaust nd it sounded sick

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there is quite a difference between the 2.8L V6 in Audi's and the 2.8L VR6 that Volkswagen uses

And hell, my VR6 Jetta always sounded beefy even with stock exhaust

with ur big mod plans u should go with the 1.8T. I have a 2.8, love it, hard to mod it esp performance mods. Unless u wanna drop $5 grand into a superharger. S4 is an amazing car, but really expensive. goodluck

im after that G35 and 350Z low mellow exhaust note, does the 1.8 or 2.8 sound somewhat like that with an exhaust on it?
