Is the 1.8T fun?
The engine seems to be underpowered for the vehicle. I am looking to get an A4 and I want the 3.0 or 3.2 but I may not be able to afford the quattro. What is the fun factor comparing the AWD and the FWD versions. Also, what is the MPG difference?
Thanks

All I can say is that quattro is fun fun fun. The 1.8t is an inexpensive and fairly fuel efficient engine. For 500 dollars, chip the car and add an additional 40hp. Doesn't get any better than that.
For what it is worth, I drive purely highway, 80 mph and get 29 mpg with 1.8 quattro tip.

The 1.8T is a fun engine. It's not "fast" but its spunky. It really is a very nice driver. of course the 3.2 is going to give a lot more power and smooth ride. It is really a very well built eninge. Its almost the same engine that VW put into the R32. the only difference is the R32 3.2 is a 15 degree V6 and the A4 3.2 is a 90 degree V6. personally if your looking to conquer some sick; twisty; up and down roads 1.8T quattro is the way to go. if you want good gas mileage and a classy car that will spank almost anything else on the road go with the 3.2 DSG FWD. so either choice is a good one. I hope this has helped you.
