Well, I wish I had something better for my first post but...

I'm sure everyone here has that 6th sense that tells them something's not right with their cherished Audi. Well, last night that sense began tingling, saying "Funny, I wasn't aware that I bought a Honda."

Sure enough, during a full throttle 1st gear pull up a steep hill I hear a WHSSSSHHHH coming from the engine compartment, along with a serious loss of power. At under 4K RPM and less than Half-throttle, there's no obvious problem.

I've been watching this site for some time so I know someone will know what's up. I did a search - seems like it might be a hose or DV issue.

Any Ideas??

BTW, just had a safety inspection done. Kinda makes ya wonder...[sm=lildevil.gif]

Welcome to the forums.. it could possibly be a vaccum leak, check all your hoses

 

Sound like a leak

 

I had the exact same sound coming from my B6 a few weeks ago.
Took it to the dealer and the was problems with the secondary air pump , and there was a vaccum hose leak.
Aswell the a failed o2 sensor.

Could be a bad diverter valve.

I had the exact same symtoms coming from my car.. wasnt a bad DV. I just put a 710N on

 

i think its a boost leak or a vacum host has come loose. Check it all under the hood. If its under warranty take it to the dealer

 

Thanks everyone for the responses. Since I have practically no auto-mechanical experience (my friends and I once changed the spark plugs on an old MG...then we took off the exhaust - convertible, you know - then they totaled it on their first joyride. Must have been the fumes![sm=bangbang.gif]), I'm gonna get it looked at by a pro.

I REALLY hope this doesn't eat into my chip/DV/ipod adapter budget - scheduled for next week.

What can I expect in repair costs for the various possibilities? Any potential n00b home-fixes??

 

If you can get ahold of VAG , maybe. But most likey not.
On an other subject, which Ipod adapter are you getting ? how much is it ? and how does it work? thanks!

 

it won't be THAT hard to find the leak if you heard that loud a 'whoooosh' during power loss. but yes, this definatly sounds like a bad seal. just pop the hood, have the engine hold at around 2000RPM (in neutral obviously) and listen around for some leaks.
