well people on this forum think of the 1.8t as "a work of art", i always thought of it as an oil sludgine nightmare...but thats just me

i strongly suggest you do some research on the 1.8t before buying one my friend....

Just something your gonna have to deal with, especially if the previous owner didn't use synthetic oil.

well i can tell you the 2.8l (30 valve) engine is great in term of reliablity. i have 155k miles on mine and it seems like everything on the car is falling apart EXCEPT the engine. to be honest with you since i bought that car many many miles ago, i cant remeber spending any money on engine parts other than regular stuff (timing belt, oil changes).

Hi guys,

So this is my first post (woo!)
I'm getting a B5 soon and am wondering about the differences between the 1.8T and the 2.8.
The specs I see here (http://consumerguideauto.howst...4.htm) tell me that the 2.8 has 40-20 more HP than the 1.8T.
Does the lighter weight of the 1.8T combined with the turbo make it faster than the V6, or does the V6 still prevail?
What are your guys' thought on the matter? Are there other things to consider?

Go easy on they guy/girl were all friends!
