Default 1.8t vs 2.8v6

Ok i'm getting ready to buy an audi soon. It needs to be a black 5 speed, fully loaded and great condition :/ 1999-2002 seems good to me also. Ive already test drove a 1999.5 v6 audi manual and I loved it. Didnt buy cause I told the guy 9000 (asking was 11999) and he got pissy with me. The car had 115k miles and some body damage in the back. And i think that car had somthing wrong with it..i could hear air like coming in on the highway like maybe it was hit or somthing.
But anyways..

First question: is about top speed. does the 1.8 rev a lot higher then the 2.8 on the highway?
Second Question: 1.8 is a lot slower then the 2.8 with 0-60? The 2.8 was no bullet.. but it was ok.
And finally.. Ive heard the 1.8 is funner to drive then the 2.8. Why is this?

I don't really want to mod anything other then sound system, so keep that in mind. Any help with my choice would be great.

1- The top speed for either is electronically limited to 130 or 135 i cant remember
2- the 1.8 is slower stock but it takes only about 1000 to make it blow the doors off a 2.8, the 1.8 has soo much more potential for power its not even funny, the 2.8 basically is reliable and that all its got going for it, the only worth while mod for it is a SC and that 4000
3- 1.8 and quicker and peppier and can be a lot quicker with a little money therefore their more fun in general

Generaly the 2.8 isnt THAT much more reliable than the 1.8t. They both cost an *** load to maintain for most people and have a lot of the same common issues that arent engine related. You just need to run synthetic oil, use larger oil filter, timing belt, and make sure to change your oil on time and follow the maintnance schedual religiously with the 1.8t engine....
