Hey guys, looking at getting an 02-04 A4 Quattro, something with 30-50k on it, for my mom. j/w what motor you guys would say is more reliable? and what kind of gas mileage I can expect? also I heard that the 1.8T's need premium fuel. unfortunately this car is not for me so performance is not an issue this car needs to last my mom a good 5 year atleast, and with the closest dealer an hour away, reliability is key! My dad and I do plan on doing most maintenance ourselves, as were pretty experienced (just not with audis). So any input you guys have would be great! Thanks -///Matt

 

Gas mileage is better with the 1.8t's the reliablilty little better on the 3.0 side jsut because of the more moving parts and more to go wrong. I have 02 a4 3.0 love the car, 220 horse power v6 just mint go TIP with it and yur mom will be nice till the next service interval keep up maintanence and she will get 5 years no prob

 

deffinatly go with the 3.0 if you arent interested in modding

 

this is the same debate you get with the b5's, just search and see what everyone says about that

2.8 v 1.8t......... i say 1.8t all the way, but i am interested in modding........ even if i bought the wifey a tip car, i would go 1.8t just in case i have to drive it, but i would mod it too
