1.8TQ-- clutch worn out at 38K??
The wife's clutch in her 05 suddenly started acting up. 38K commuter miles on highway/city.Clutch wouldn't release to pull trans out of gear and the pedal would stick on the floor. She sat in traffic for 10 mins trying to get the trans out ofgear. Never dealt with anything like it....
This is NOT a raced or aggressively driven car. Sunset Audi said the clutch was 'worn out' and not covered under the 4/50K warranty. Being the nice guys they are, they agreed to split an $1800 bill--- For chrissakes, $1800 for a clutch????
I'm not impressed if all you can get is 38K from a clutch... whazzzup?? Any ideas??
thanks, Mike

Dang, she doing 7k clutch drops behind your back or something?
Any strange tire marks appearing on the road in front of the house?
Most here have much longer life than that, most of us replace the clutch because we want to, or need to because ofengine upgrades.
I would demand a full replacement, or f*ck the dealer and go with a stage 3 0r 4 clutch, it'll be cheaper than 1800 installed.

no offense to you or your wife, but if the clutch is worn out after 38K, you're driving it wrong. it's the wife's car, right? so have you noticed if she rides the clutch pedal while she drives, or anything like that? I'll probably get in sh*t from any female members here for saying this, but women in general are terrible operators of manual transmissions. there are exceptions of course, but for the most part it's true.

2002 audi a4 1.8t quattro ... got the car with 60,000+km and let the girlfriend ddirve a few times.. noticed the clutch got weaker... replaced at 73,000... she drove about 2000 of those 13,000... with me she drove fine but without me ... terrible things were done to my baby

I know what you are saying, but she's got skills with a clutch. I suppoze she could be livin some other life a 1/4 mile at a time, but I don't think so.... I've driven some stuff pretty hard and never warn out a clutch like this at 38K. I drove the car when she reported the problem and it doesn't act worn out-- it acts like its broken.
I'm just getting back from a trip and the car is still at the dealer. The 1/2 off seems to be a lame way of trying to giving a deal without giving anything. I'm still feeling like there's a cover up going on and the wife isn't getting the straight story.
This dealer hasn't shown a lot of love and this car has had less reliability than my previous twoFords combined. Not good.
