1.9tdi cold problem
Hi everyone. hope someone can help me.
I have a 2001 a4 tdi 130bhp. most of the time its great but when its cold weather (2 degrees C or below) it develops a couple of problems.
firstly, the engine will turn and catch first time but for a few seconds it will struggle to get up to tick over speed and it lets out a little plume of white smoke but it quickly disappears. It only does this in the morning.
the main thing is that under load at about 2100 rpm, the engine gets quite loud all of a sudden like something is loose. the noise is worse in 4th and 5th and especially at 70 mph. if i take it upto 80 (on a private road of course
) the noise vanishes. if i lift off the throttle the noise gradually comes back and then disappears when it drops under 2krpm.
when the weather is mild the car runs like a dream and is definitely more responsive. I've had the car into an audi specialist and on vagcom no faults are found.
so far in my ownership(to rule things out) the car has had, a new dmf, new clutch, new injector loom, new maf, and has just had a full service by the audi specialist with oem parts. the glow plugs have been tested (by a "normal" garage) and they said 1 was down and they changed it but its made no difference.
any pointers greatly appreciated.
thanks for reading my waffle.
