10 Engine Fault Codes

Finally, I have some of my own fault codes to post. I was feeling left out. Anyone want to take a crack at these?

RE: 10 Engine Fault Codes

Lean condition casuing misfire. You also have EVAP system problem which can cause a lean condition. Check for vacuum leaks and the EVAP valve that sits on top of the air filter housing. Give it a gentle rap or two. It should be clicking when the engine is running if you put your ear right up to it. Check the vacuum lines coming from it especially the small grey and white check valves. The one behind the air filter can rub on the metal piece near it and get a hole.

Could also be fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator.

When was the last time you vagged? Save the codes, clear them and see what comes back.

forget all the other codes they are caused by the one;)

RE: 10 Engine Fault Codes

I cleared the codes (like I should have to begin with) and have 4 that came back immediately. I replaced the check valve a couple days ago since it had a hole in it. I have an ABS module in my garage right now. That will get fixed this week.

Here's what's left over-
16684 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
............P0300 - 35-00 - -
16687 - Cylinder 3: Misfire Detected
............P0303 - 35-00 - -
16686 - Cylinder 2: Misfire Detected
............P0302 - 35-00 - -
16685 - Cylinder 1: Misfire Detected
............P0301 - 35-00 - -

RE: 10 Engine Fault Codes

arcing plug cables/bad spark plugs the P0300 is the main code the rest are also caused by that code

RE: 10 Engine Fault Codes

could it also be the coil packs?

RE: 10 Engine Fault Codes

Not all 4 of them at the same time. If you had one cyl misfire, then I'd say yes.

What year car do you have and what engine?

RE: 10 Engine Fault Codes

Have you changed your plugs since your recent turbo swapping?? I remember things werent running right for you. If you were running rich before your plugs might be messed up. There is no ICM for ATW i dont think like the older a4's have located on top of the air box. That would have been a guess for me, but im not sure where the ICM is if we have that on our engines. Im just guessing F'd up plugs. Try replacing them. The 16684 random/multiple missfire code can also indicate a bad engine speed/rpm sensor.. But since it lists specific cyl. missfires, i dont think thats it.
