i was just wondering what yall think about the new 2005 12" kicker solobaric l5 cuz i just ordered it and its coming soon. if any1 has this sub or knows some1 who has one, plz reply cuz i wanna know who its gonna sound.

1st, the L5 isn't new. It's the second to latest model, the L7 is the new one. that said, i think the L5 is actually a better sub that requires less power, so you picked well for being undereducated.... totally NO offense. It's a SICK sub if you're goin for spl (Sound Pressure Level), and a GOOD one if you're for SQL (Sound Quality). It's kicker so it's name stands true, just make sure it's not underpowered or else it wont be at it's peak (duh). I got a 10" L5 sittin right here beside me actually thats getting fiberglassed into my spare tire well tomorrow.

 

Its old.. i would rather you go with the L7 .. personally it sounds a little better quality. Kicker is a true name.. unlike alpine or JL which are very overated and pricey. What kind of amp are you thinking about getting? i suggest a 500/1. but you might get a different one....

 

I used to have 2 12" kicker l7's but it was too loud and heavy, then I sold them and got out of audio

 

The L5 is ok. You won't get an excellent response time from it but it does push some nice bass for a non competition system.
And the L7 is not new either. The solobarics have been around for years.

 

does anyone have problems with rattles or bad noises with the a4 and subs. i came from an open air car, (ie no trunk) and i didnt have rattles, just wondering if you guys experiece this cause i was thinking about putting subs in my car.

yes...prepare for rattles.....but then again you aren't going with 2 s1715d2 subs......

 

My JL W7 was worth every penny... W6's are overpriced, but still kick ***. W3's are one of the best bang for the buck subs you can buy. Don't know what you're driving at!

And yeah, alpine's subs are nothing impressive... well, they just came out (within the last year) with the type X sub's... and they are pretty mean.
