Default 12 vs. 30 valve 2.8....

Ok i wanna put my opinion out there and i wanna know exactly what other people think. I have the 96 12 valve 2.8. I know for mods its way worse than the 30 valve, but with a few bolt ons i would never give up the 12 for a 30 valve. I run a used dealer so i have driven quite a few of both cars and i still like the acceleration from the 12 valve better. There are no dead spots in the acceleration, at high rpm's from like 4k on it actually revs faster, plus i can run it to 6900 or 7 k without even feeling a limiter whatsoever. Another noted plus is i got 425 miles on one tank which is like 29 MPG. Im not trying to say that the 12 valve is a better built engine, i honestly feel the 30 valve is a great engine, but most people complain in these forums about these 12 valve engines, most of who don't even drive one. IDK i guess im just really happy with mine....... Plus i have had the car for 70 k with no maintenance needed. Knock on wood.... What do you think???

yea, it deffinatly pulls alot harder after 3500

my last car was a v6 and i liked the powerband better in that then in my 1.8..just alot more tourqe down low

but i by no means would trade my car for a 2.8

well i just never like replacing turbos either.....kinda pricy but its a good excuse to go k04 when the stock starts weezin on ya.....They are audi's-all the engines are good..... i just get tired of the 12v bashing. My car is like 11 years old and when i bought the Denali i didnt trade it in cause i love it.

well as long as you like it and it still looks and runs good, then it dosent matter

alot of peoples opinions on here are extremly biased (including mine sometimes)

yeah no worries appreciate the honesty, plus the best thing is that i ran out of mods to do on the engine so i can spend all my extra money trying to make it look like an S4 like all the other idiots on here.....haha later

12v is fine for everyday, 30v is better in general though, and you can SC it.

I think overall the 30v is a better engine, and most importantly like woode said you can supercharge it. I have no complaints about my 12v though, and since our engine (or variations of it) has been around forever there seems to be a lot more discussion and help with it, especailly on AW.
