125,000 and still kicking?
i am looking at getting a new a4. it is a 98 a younger person had it last. it looks pretty good needs tune-up. but my main question is how long do a4 normally good for without major problems. this one has 125,000 on it. i know the turbo might need replacing which is cool just a excuse to go bigger. but let me know, ty
i dont know 125 is pushing it. whats he asking$$? if you dont mind spending money on it and have the knowledge to do the work on it ur self then why not. but if u are looking for something that wont cost a bundle you might as well look somewhere else.
check the maintance books see if everything is up to date if un sure spend the $91.95 and take it to a Audi dealer let them look over it for a hour see what it is going to need if anything
The price seems pretty high to me for a 98 with that many miles. Are there any modifications or is it stock?
As far as maintenance goes, the timing belt should have been replaced about 50k miles ago and is probably due to be replaced again soon. If it wasnt replaced at all, its the 1st thing that'll need doing.
You'll probably find quite a few parts will be showing signs of wear and tear and probably need replacing. I am in the process of preping my 2000 A4 to be sold which has 100k miles and I'm just not willing to drop any more cash into general repairs.
oops forgot this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1998-...QQcmdZViewItem
it has a big turbo upgrade and FMIC and some other major mods im a assuming
its has a carbonfiber hood and S4 wheels
but is says the car had front damage though and a bad dent on the side door and fender
thats some nasty stuff though

Personally, I wouldnt buy it for that price. If your **** about the looks, like most of us here are you are probably looking at about 1200-2k in body and paint work to repair the door and wheel well lines. Another 200-500 to respray the bumper. If that is an ebay fiberglass bumper like I think it is the body shop you take it too may not be able to get it off cleanly as the fiberglass may be too thin (had this happen on my 2000 where the previous owner cheaped out on the bumper) if this is the case you could be up for the cost of a new bumper cover as well.
It also looks like where he was hit may have also impacted the back wheel, could have done damage to the bearings and anything else in there. Who knows. If you are seriously considering this, I'd take it to get checked out before handing over the cash.
All of the above is obviously subjective and my opinon so take it with a grain of salt
I just checked carfax as well, it looks like it had a few suspension problems.
Between 52,598 and 61,584 the electrical and suspenstion was services 3-4 times. Could be on account of the accident? although, that accident doesnt look to have been reported to insurance since it is not showing up on the carfax report at all.
Just a few more things to keep in mind
