Default 17s vs 18s

Ok, im looking into wheels but cant deside what to go with. I want all performance so they are def going to be lightweights. Everyone says that once you go over 17s you start to lose performace, i found 18s that weigh less then alot of 17s and about the same as stock. So im wondering for all you guys on 18s if you saw some performance drop? or a gain with lightweights and lowprofiles?

When you change wheels you better (must) keep the same diameter. But 16 on small cars use already very low profile tires. And if you go bigger the tire should be lower profile to keep diameter .
See tire calculator http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

So bigger wheels might need same profile tires then the diam ll be bigger. Bigger diam means you loss torque, Hp, cause it ll be harder to do the same work.

Bigger with smaller profile means you keep the same performance (same diameter) but the ride ll be harder and maybe less fun.

you dont have to worry about power loss. you wont feel any difference in acceleration or anything.

yeah - best to do your own research and figure out for yourself. No one here can tell you what appeals to you.
Took me months of looking.
