Default 1996 A4 Quattro Auto Transmission Problem

This problem just started with my automatic transmission: when my car is going from a complete stop or from a speed under 5 miles per hour, it will not automatically shift into first gear, instead the engine just revves and the car barely creeps forward. I can manually select the low gear at a stop and it engages, at which point I can immediately put it back in drive and it will shift on it’s own perfectly. Does anyone have any idea what maybe causing this? Thanks for looking!!

i am trained in automatic transmissions, whoever is the guy on here with the bently, give me a picture of the 96 a4 2.8l quattro trans valve body, sounds like a stuck shift valve or malfunctioning solenoid, but cant be very specific about it without seeing a view of the valve body.

I suggest you try changing the tranny fluid.
