1997 A4 Airbag Light = Resistance 2 High - HELP !?!
greetings. i have a 1997 A4 1.8 T Quattro. a while back the airbag light went on one evening. not doing anything unusual driving wise. i have read many places that sometimes the light comes on if one pushes the passenger side seat WAY back - [ as i often have to do to accomodate the bass drum of my drum kit - other story altogether ] but since it is an airbag - a useful device when one needs it in that milli-second of severe necessity i brought it to the attention of my service fellow during a routine service issue.
he ran the code for the problem : came up with "Air Bag 00588 Left side [ drivers side ] Airbag. Resistance too high."
i would like to see if anyone else experienced the same problem and if so...what was your problem and eventual solution ? my battery is fine, the electrical system is without problem anywhere else [ except the radio/cd player which now has a slight hum behind the music which mimicks the whine of the engine - very annoying - perhaps related in some weird electrical way ?? ]
is it just a weak wire somewhere ? an improper ground ? some connection has rotted away ? [ the car is ten years old and i do live in Connecticut / hot summers, humid weather at times, cold winters etc. ]
before i spend my cash on this issue, i would appreciate any feedback on this problem [ any other feedback on the annoying sound from my cd player would also help
]
many thanks in advance. Jah Bless.
