Default 1997 a4 oil change DIY?

i have the 1.8T and do not have the owners manual for it. Does anyone know which type of oil to use, from researching, i need synthetic but which type and weight?

also, is it easy enough to change out the oil myself and if so is there anything special that I need to know like how to take off the skid plate?

Thanks in advance

Nothing special, but if you have a tiptronic, make sure you drain the oil not the transmission fluid. Get Mann filters over the internet, of if no time, get one from the dealer.

See if you can pick up a haynes manual at pepboys for Audi/VW. it is only about 15 dollars

Bentframe, I use the same as you. It meets ACEA A3.

Pick up a set of Rhino Ramps too, they are very helpful for oil changes. Much easier than jacking the car up.

I have used K&N on occasion too. Mann or Bosch are stock filters.

Why not use Fram? I get parts through my friend at a Dodge dealer so I pay 5% over cost which is good, but still what are your feelings about Fram I still use them on my Chevy.
