Default 1998 A4 Avant - Trip computer screen dead

Hi,

Have had smooth motoring with my 1998 1.8SE A4 Avant for a few months, however the trip computer (Everything below the amber warning box - which still works) is dead. The actual LED panel still works, I get the "Push footbrake when changing into Drive..." when starting the car, however I no longer have any trip functions or gear selection indicator - it is just blank.

I have tried the stalk mounted switches but they have no effect.

Has anyone got any ideas? Could it be a fuse? Are there any obvious connectors to check?

Any help appreciated!!!

Thanks

Jim

the dealer said that it happens alll the time. its under warrenty if you would still have that, which i doubt you do since you have a 98, but your most likely gonna have to get it replaced and its a **** load of money

uh - I am gonna just throw this out there - you didn't accidentally "turn off" the trip computer did you?
Some people don't know you can actually turn it off so that the screen goes blank.

But the guys are right - these damn trip computers suck and should have been recalled years ago.
