1998 Audi A4 2.8L V6
Hello guys, im interested in buying a 1998 Audi A4 that is being sold around me for 9,900. It has 61,000 miles and I haven't been able to check carfax report on it. I am wondering is it a better bet to buy a 1.8L turbos instead of the 2.8L v6? I also heard that its extremely hard to mod the 2.8L V6 and its a gas guzzler.. but what about the 1.8L Turbos, do they take alot of gas? .. Also, I want to have an idea of how much maintence is on an Audi of this year. For instance, the cost of replacing timing belts and so on, some common problems. I would look to replace everything myself , but im curious if its expensive to buy these parts . if anyone can help out , thank you.
theres not that much diffrence in gas millage, not sure about the cost of the timimg belt but you should ask the guy if he has already replaced it, since its 61,000 unlikely but it would save you cash, that would be a brand fuckign new timimg belt
i have a 2.8 quattro 1998.5 and its not bad on gas at all i get better gas than my friends four banger small pickup ... its about 20 mpg or so up n down deping where u drive blah blah blah i paid 7000 flat for mine with timing belt jus replaed only things rong we found out were the injectors, and a squeak that wuz caused by a bad ball joint , but as everyone will prob tell u a 1.8 T u can mod engine wise n the 2.8 u can basicly only super charge the thing but its ok i'd rather have a tank engine with no turbo n good suspention u can private message n i can tell u anything u wanna no bout it
