Ok, I've got a head-scratcher.

Have a 1999 2.8 quattro 5 speed. (Well, ok, it's not mine, it's my fiancee's, but.....). Here's the problem: The instrument cluster lights never go out! They're on if the car is on, regardless of if the headlights or foglights are on. The rest of the buttons (the radio, etc) stay dark until the headlights come on, as they should. It's just the instrument lights that never go out. I don't know if it's supposed to be that way or it's something that needs fixing.

I'm all ears on this one. For all I know it's supposed to be that way.

(The only reason this came up is that my 01' A6's lights are off during the day (at least I think they are), so she started wondering if there was something wrong with her car. I'm still pretty new to Audi, so I didn't have a good answer. Of course, the Forum did )

 

A4 > A6. We have our lights on because we're cooler!

 

My cluster lights don't come on until I turn on my headlights, but its a '97 so maybe its different.
