Hi All, I have a A4 avant 2.5tdi 1999. It runs fine up to 3000 RPM then cuts out, the car restarts ok after this. Doesn't matter whether the car is stationary or moving. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

Has it done this before? Are there engine codes? I had a similar problem with an older cavalier I once had, in the higher RPMS it would start cutting out, and stall going up hills, or when speeding up rapidly would sometimes cut out.(automatic) have you checked to see if all your plugs/coil packs are in place?(problem with cavalier, changing them fixed the problem mostly) My last 99A4 2.8 had an issue with Idling, very rough, and not smooth and consistent. it would hop from 1.5 to just under 1k and almost stall if i didn't give her some gas. never did get it fixed though, getting hit took care of that unfortunately. :/

Other this problem, how do you like the car? I'm planning on getting the same car this weekend possibly, here in Germany.

I bought the car, and I haven't noticed this problem, 246k km(156k miles roughly)
