Default 1999 V6 NITROUS

Hello,

I am working with a master mechanic to install a nitrous system. The installation is complete but the results are extremely disappointing. We were targeting approximatly 100HP but have only achieved approximatly 40HP and 75FPT with what is estimated to be enough nitrous for 100HP easy. This is a wet system and the dyno tuning is showing that we are close to stoich (13:1 / 14:1) thoughout the entire run.

So, I guess that I am asking for some advice. Something, possibly ECU control, is limiting the HP gains on this car. At this point, the car is hitting OPEN LOOP and timing seems to be advanced.

However, that FLAT SPOT between 3500 and 5500 is just the pits. I have no clue what is preventing this engine from performing.

ANY IDEAS????

THanks,
Chris

I would be interested about where you heard this about V6/Nitrous... That would be a good lead for me to do some more research and look for their solutions.

It just doesn't make sense... I am providing the fuel, the oxygen, the timing is correct and the car is in good condition. WTF!!!

Just S/C if you have the way cooler 30v version.

you need a chip. search the forums for '30v chip' and you'll find all kinds of options...there are at least half a dozen tuners who make chips for the 30v with increases ranging from 8hp to 30hp (claimed HP)..

"yeah supercharge it" is easy for you all to say because you are not spending the 5000 dollars for only 100HP...

I chose nitrous because it should be 1/2 the price for more HP/torque and with less engine modification.

Chipping 'may' be a viable option but I need to contact the dealers and actually talk to them about their respective chip as compared to nitrous and etc etc.

thanks guys,
C

Dont put a chip in. The chip will advance the timing which is the last thing you want with nitrous. What are you using to control timing? You need to retard the timing between 2 and 4 degrees or youll be firing the cylinders too early which can result in lower results than expected and posible engine damage.

Thanks for the response.

Nothing on the timing... Can you suggest a device that will allow for timing control on this vehicle?

Thanks,
C
