2.0T or 3.2 For My New A4?

I'm about to order an '08 A4 and at the last minute a friend suggested that I do not consider the 2.0T because of reliability problems. Is the current 2.0T an inherently more trouble prone engine than the 3.2?

What are the relative benefits/trade-offs of the the two engines?

I live and commute at high altitude -5000-7000 feet. I am being told that the turbo four will equal the six in terms of power output at this altitude, plus it can be chipped for much more power. The 2.0t is less expensive and will get better fuel economy.

It there really a convincing argument to be made for the 3.2 at this altitude? I very much appreciate all thoughts as well as your time.

get the 2.0 u have the warranty anyway if there are issues with it. he is probably right about the power output too cuz the air isnt as dense

I need a reliable vehicle. I drive 800 miles a week through the desert and mountains. I also don't have time for unscheduled shop visits.

are you going to be modding it at all or just need the car for commuting cause the 2.0 will be better for modding

if u wanna mod get the 2.0

if you want a car with some go from the beginning and will last 200,000 miles, get the 3.2

easy enough.

Is there a difference in smoothness?

How big a difference in gas mileage?

The 2.0T will show a significantly better MPG average than the 3.2 because its 4 cylinder vs V6

Now, if you chip your 2.0T and put an exhaust on it, then your MPG will be even MOOREEE impressive and you'll be just as fast as a 3.2 V6 A4

I strongly recommend you go with the 2.0T S-line.. You'll love every second of it, you just got to make sure you use synthetic oil every 3-3.5k miles and it will run long and hard.

I'm assuming both cars are as smooth as one and other

Maybe you should test drive the '07 models to compare and go with what you like. None of the problems I've had with my car had anything to do with the turbo. Any car can have any number of things go wrong with it.So go with which the model you like best!

2.0t, there are no reliability issues yet, and you have a warrenty. im pretty sure audi learned of turbo reliability problems from the 1.8t which by the way was a fragile engine. the 2.0t is entirely new and as far as i know all of audi 4 valves per cylinder engines are more reliable than the 5vpc.
