I can get a 2.2 engine for free.. It needs to be rebuilt but has anyone ever done this before or know about anything involved in the swap? I assume i would need a tranny with it....

I never thought of that kind of swap, would you put it into a B5 chassis that had a 1.8T?

We have put them in older audi's but it was a lot easier..... Those are such bad *** motors, we are talking the 20v not the 15v right cuz the 20v is the only one worth it

 

is it tbe 20V 2.2 is a 5cyl engine, that engine has alot of potential but its old though

 

I dono if that will work very well, its only 165HP stock and you would have to do a RS2 conversion to it to make power. The ECU would have to be upgraded to something like 034. The injectors are also a pain to get unless you upgrade them, the originals are hitachi and are like $200 an injector. My friend has this engine in his coupe quattro and it is a pain in the ***... but he loves that car. It would be very cool to do but very expensive. The 10V 2.2 5cyl is also very cool, that engine is easyer to make more power im pritty sure the 034 guy has a 510whp one.

Ok... I actually don't know if it is the 20v or not, i will check. Also I have a haltech Standalone ECM in my b5 right now. I am looking make some pretty big numbers if I was to do this. It seems like it would be a pretty unique car at that point. Not to mention extremely fast. Any other input would be greatly appriciated! Thanks

 

Dont get me wrong this would be a sweet project. Just very expensive.
