Default 2.25" or 2.5" piping size?

Ok getting a custom exhaust set up, just want to determine which size pipe to get. I'm leaning towards 2.5, is this going to give enough back pressure? The guy at the shop said they usually only recommend going up one size from stock (ie 2.0" to 2.25"), what is the stock size for a 96 2.8? Are there any other 2.8's with this set up? Looking to get it done by the end of this week, let me know guys.

I think 2" is stock. You really dont need to worry TOO much about back pressure because you dont have a turbo. I think you could go up to 2.75" and not pop too much as long as you keep some kind of mid muffler or resonator. It would sound great with a good muffler.

I wouldn't worry either, the only time it would pop is during a higher rev at a standstill. I would go with the 2.5 at least. I would personally go with the biggest pipe they can use with the stock down pipe or manifold flanges (depending on whether you are getting new downpipes).

yea +1 on that 2.5 should be the best bet... have the muffler shop weld in a universal resonator and get rid of your heavy mid muffler ...go straight back to a borla..magnaflow..or if you have some extra money go Remus (best sound) but pricey

I have a scorpion but its pretty rare and hard to get out of Europe

post some sound clips and pics when you get er done ..

have fun

ok so 2.5 it is flex pipes and back, with a resonator and magnaflow muffler. Now the inlet for the muffler is 2.25 is that going to have an effect on anything? with all this said and done I will make the appointment tomorrow, and hopefully have this done before next week
