Default 2.2T 20V engine swap

Just curious... how come I never heard of anybody swapping a 5-cyl 2.2T engine in their A4s? That engine is relatively strong and you can get it up to 290 hp on stock turbo.

Is it possible at all?

umm yeah its been done before.. but would be rather expensive.. i was debating it.. It was done for the Pikes Peak competition.. and I believe it was actually a 2.3... I may be wrong maybe it is a 2.2... I would rather throw it into a 4000 CS... I think that would be awesome!!! and a total sleeper

That'd be sweet though. It is a really rare swap and probably cheaper than the 2.7T. You can get that engine used for much more cheaper than a 2.7. On a 4000 it is a normal swap. Alot of people have done it.

But yeah bore it out to a 2.3 or 2.4 and do the head too (valves).

Yeah I know. Maybe swap out the tranny too for the other 5-speed that that engine used to be mounted to. Probably stronger too.

but would that mount to the drivelines? thats where i have been drawing blanks.. if it would it would be a sweet idea.. but if you have to change out the differentials and crap.. might not be worth it

I was thinking if you get a donor car that has been totalled but with good mechanical parts. Buy it from a junkyard or something and have all the parts ready so whatever you need is there and you don't need to keep ordering parts left and right.

I think we are the only people awake on this forum tonight

or the only ones interested in this conversion..

the problem is say you need the differential from the 5000 CS.. (I am gathering that would be your donor car) then what do you have to do make custom mounts.. fabricate things to work? I really wish I could get a hold of the guys that built that race car.. it would be awesome to talk to them and see what all they had to go through..

Possible Donor car
