2.8 ?
im thinking about the 2.8 cause there more reliable then the 1.8t. im not really looking into making it 1.8t fast but i would like to add intake, exhuast, chip, and springs over time. im lookin for a reliable car though. i found a black 1996 2.8 quattro for $4500 but it has 116k miles and im wondering wat problems these cars have with high miles and is it a good idea to buy this kinda car with that milage
I think you should hold out for a newer one with the 30v there easier to make quick or at least quick for a 2.8 the 12v dont have alot of easy options, sort of alot of engine work and stuff like the the 12v 2.8 is kind of worthless for modding
well if your even going to do exhaust and intake like you said earlier the 12v is worthless there isnt even a chip for it, It would take major motor work to build power....... but as far as reliability its very reliable
Ok yes it is relaible abd thats good for a first car so it might be a good choice for you but you keep saying intake and exhaust..... but what you are missing is there is NO such thing as modding the 12v at all, you will have to have everything custom done
ah dang, i least wanted to make it sound nice. well i can always go to a muffler shop and do the stock air box mod and put a drop in K&N
put 116k is still reliable, any thing i should now about these engines

As long as the service reccords show all maintainence has been done it can last well in to the 200k range, just keep it in good shape and it will treat you well..... as for exhaust yes you can have a shop do it, and your best best for a good sound is either a remus or magnaflow muffler and flowmaster sounds good too according to a guy that just had one put on his 30v intake the k&N will work well and you might be able to find a CAI but you wont notice much of a hp gain....... later on you can do massive engin work and build a **** ton of power but like I said I takes engin work not just bolt on stuff.... hope this helps you out a little
