Just wondering what some of the high milage numbers are from some of the 2.8 owners, since I see a thread with this in, for the 1.8ts...

From what I read in a few other topics, the V6 seems to be a little more durable since it isnt as high strung as the turbo one.

I just picked my 98 up with 106,xxx

 

I'll turn 172k tomorrow.

96 12v 2.8 with 117k

 

i have a 99 with 114,xxx

 

99 with 83000

 

174,853 unless I drove last night hmmm... no, I did geotech last night. I should take a trip down south so I can break 175. Next weekend I am going to my friends wedding in LA so I will probably be ~175300 next time I look.

Do you guys love the 2.8 or wish you woulda bought the 1.8t, and have your engine been as reliable as folks say they are?

 

I love my 2.8 for reliability, fuel economy, and it does have plenty enough power for my occasional bout with a cocky v6 camaro (and I drive a wagon). But I often lament not buying a 2.7 t (cause I drive an A6) just because my friends all want to live vicariously through me and hate that my car does not do 0-60 in 6sec.
