Default 2 coilpacks went out + extras problems

I have 03 a4 b6 1.8tqm with about 81xxx miles. Ok so i was driving... bla bla bla...... then suddenly my car started shaking, first i thought im ina 4th gear instead of 2nd, after making sure im in a second i see flashing CEL. Car sounded likemodded STI. So after reading all posts on forums about how ignition coils go out i kind of figured this out but still wasnt sure. I didnt have spare coils, nearest place to go was a DealerShip )) They quoted me $345 but final price was about $300. I know i know it is too much but i didnt have another choice or maybe jsut was too scared...
Anyways, they told me some not really good news for me/my car.
1. My rear differential seals are leaking, they can do it for about $600
2. Coolant Flush has to be done $160
3. Power Steering Flush $190 (is it DIY ?)
4. Fuel Induction Service $190 (They mean Fuel Pump has to be changed?)
5. Brake Fluid Flush $150 (Can i just change fluid?)

So first thing is to change the seals.
So if someone canhelp with some info, maybe some aftermarket seals ))
And if someone has done it, how much did you payfor it?

All the other stuff can be DIY or done a lot cheaper at an independent audi mechanic. As for the seal leaks, I have had them for over the last100K miles (i'm now at 190K). I just check the differential gear oil level once a year, and top up the 0.5 ounce that has leaked out.

Coolant flush doesn't have to be done.

Brakes flush should be done every two years. DIY with a friend and tools or probably 50 dollars at a mechanic

Power steering flush is not a "recommended" service by Audi. However it is good to swap out some fluid. Easiest way is with a can of Pentosyn 11S PS fluid (DONOT use off the shelf fluid from Pepboys, etc). Find a small 2 ounce turkey baster and suck out the fluid from the reservoir and refill. do this about every 15K miles. You could drain the whole system by undoing the hoses and then you would be good for the next 80K.

Forget the "fuel system service"

my God what a rip off!

someone on audizine was quoted $300 by their dealer for rear diff seals

coolant is G12 which is supposed to be a lifetime coolant... but will get flushed anyway when u do the timing belt

powersteering flush? sure have them change your blinker fluid too [sm=loser.gif]

fuel induction service means they are going to pour some fuel system cleaner in it... fuel pump part alone is $350 cause i did mine myself...
but i would get your fuel filter changed by the dealer or local german mechanic.. part is $50 plus $50 in labor.. the fuel line connectors are a biatch!

and brake fluid is probably due for a flush, take it to a local german mechanic and let him do it cause its hard to get to the clutch to bleed it out... bring your own fluid and use something like motul 5.1 or RBF if u track.. RBF will need to be flushed yearly but 5.1 is great for everyday use!

oh and lastly get the R coilpacks from the parts dept or if u have time order ECS tuning hitachi E coils so u dont have to worry about them going out again.... about $100 and very very easy DIY

if u choose not to do these things as instructed, take some KY up to the dealer so they can do it all for u

First, never ever go to a dealer for servicing. Take it to an independant mechanic.
1- Rear Diff: Indy shop. Should be about half that.
2- Coolant: Do it with the timing belt.
3- Power Steering: Don't.
4- Fuel blah blah: BS and there's a recall for the fuel pump on 03 A4's.
5- Brakes: $150? Brake fluid should be changed every 2 years or so. Anywhere else will be at least half that.

No point in doing it. If it's low, you'll need to fix the leak, but other than that, there's no need to flush the steering fluid. It also shouldn't cost anything near $200. The small bottle is about $25. Labor should be under an hour since draining it is easy and to refillt it you disconnect the belt and turn the pump by hand.
