Default 2001 A4 or 2002 A4

Looking at buying my first Audi.
Can't decide on either the 2001 or 2002
Please give your reasons.

I'm looking for a nice daily driver that gets good gas mileage, is fun to drive, plenty of mods to choose from, etc. I'm located in Jacksonville, Florida so I'm not sure if I need the Quattro but I've heard get it anyway because it helps corner.

I'm turning my 99 Mustang GT into a weekend driven car. I need a second vehicle because when my car is in the shop getting performance upgrades, it is such a huge inconvienance for me. My Mustang has been the best car I've ever owned but after all the bolt-ons are done, the next step requires the car to be in the shop for some time. I'm no stranger to boost and speed but I'll be the first to admit that Mustangs can't corner for sh*t!

Lets hear your comments!!!

Auto is out. Period. If you have a real mustang, then you should know how to drive stick well.

I say get quattro even though you live in Florida just for the handling, but a case can be made for FWD since you have less power losses.

01 or 02 comes down to body style I think. I like the B5 (01) better and it is also a bit smaller car. So my vote goes for 2001 1.8T Quattro 5Sp manual.

uh the poll doesn't work. u put an ending time on it.

as for which one to get i'd say the 2001 1.8T Quattro Manual. b5's are much better lookin IMO. and u defintely want quattro. i went from a 5.0 to my audi quattro and the change is sick. handles a million times better. its nice to see another FL guy on here. there's a guy in neptune beach which is close to you. and he's also sellin gtrs elim. for real cheap

99.5 B5 A4 1.8T Quattro 5 speed.......WHY?

1~ Looks like the 01
2~ Has the GIAC P-16 file for more power
3~ NDBW takes to mods better

01 all the way. ofcourse i might be a little partial to mine, lol. its prettymuch a decision for looks. you dont have any better options on the 02 as opposed to the 01. same power for each car (170hp) B5 is a little lighter. i like the sleek look of the B5. the B6 seems "fat" to me. too rounded and bubbly if that makes any sense.

lol, how could i forget you 99.5 guys. the only thing i dont like about my car is that it is not drive by wire. there is sometimes a delay. but the 01's extra 20hp makes up for it

What exactly is the difference between a 99 and a 99.5? You guys got me leaning towards the 01 and older models. What should I stay away from. I know the timing belt has to be replaced at 60k miles but what if I bought one with 100k? How long do the motors last when stock? The funny thing is I can tell myself that I'm going to leave it stock or chip it but we all know that if modding cars is what you do, then it won't take long for me to start playing with bigger turbo, exhaust, etc. That's why I'm leaning to the 1.8T. I can get a 02 A4 1.8T Quattro 5-speed for $14000 with 56k miles. It's hard to find an 01 with under 70k miles so I don't know if it's smart to get one with 100k if it's not going to be dependable.

The 99.5 looks just like the 01 but it is a NDBW so it makes it easier to mod and better throttle responce What should I stay away from. Anything older than 99.5 because they 'look' different (not that it's a bad thing BUT they are from an older style) I know the timing belt has to be replaced at 60k miles but what if I bought one with 100k? Look harder I found my 99.5 1.8TQM with the sport pkg in black (a must for me) with 60K miles for 10,000 cash....
