2001 Audi A4 - Center console stuck up

My center console is stuck up. Has anyone experienced this? Do you know how to fix it?

this may sound dumb but are you pressing the button when u try to put it down?

I've moved it up and down hundreds of times and the other day it decided to not come down.

something must be stuck in the hinge
