Default 2002 A4 1.8T Quattro Tip - Exhaust Options

Hello,

I am looking at options for exhaust. I have looked into just replacing the mufflers, to replacing the entire system. I want something medium to quiet. Neuspeed offers the cat-back, but only for manual transmission. Another source said that all you need to do to make the Neuspeed cat-back system work for the tiptronic is make a custom bracket between the downpipe and tranny mount. If anyone has experience with this please advise on the outcome.

I'm not looking for a radical change, but at least better airflow and to replace the rediculous looking stock tips. I have it Neuspeed chipped, and a K&N filter, but that's it so far. Not a racer, just a sporty commuter.

Any comments appreciated.

The only exhaust I found for this car (I have the same) that has it all is APR's...it has the downpipe...and costs $1000....

Oettinger, be unique. I have it on my tip and it sounds great as long as you leave the resonator on. Its about the same as APR's cost. Other options would be Milltek, custom piping Magnaflow mufflers, Abt... Shouldn't of went with Neuspeed's chip IMO.

Sebass,

The APR exhaust seems to indicate only for 5-speed. Do you have manual or tiptronic? If tiptronic, did you make any bracket modifications, or have any other issues?

Thanks for all the replies.

To update, I found the one I'm getting. Rennen Performance [ http://www.rennen.us/exhaust.html ] has the Milltek system : "Milltek Audi 2002-on A4 1.8T Quattro DUAL Stainless Steel Exhaust. TipTronic (no downpipe included)". Most other places have it priced at $999.00. They have it for $799.00.

Thanks for all the input,

kastler

If you can give me a link I'll check it out. I think the Milltek is fairly mellow sounding, which is what I want. Also looking for a nice rear look. Some of the tips out there look like ricky rice burner.

The only thing I don't like are that the tips are flared out to twice the diameter of the pipe coming out of the muffler. The Milltek tips are straight out.
