Default 2003 1.8t vs. 3.0

Is it true that the 1.8t comes with a vinyl leatherette whereas the 3.0 comes with real leather?

I was at the dealership yesterday and that is what they told me.

Please let me know...thanks guys.

i dont think i have letherette in my '03 1.8t it smells like leather....i think the difference between the leathers of the 1.8 and the 3.0 is that there was an option to get a higher grade leather. http://www.audiworld.com/model/find you year and model and it gives all option available.

^ ya youre right for 02+ i think real leather was an option as opposed to leatherete. I personally prefer leatherete because it holds up better and doesnt get hard and crack over time. Not as plush as the real deal though.

The tint on our windows helps the leather last longers. Also, I use leather conditioner. My seats are perfect and wouldn't want anything but leather.

Yup I have an 11 year old Maxima with leather that has been taken care of very well and its great, but still shows its age. The fact is, real leather is going to age more wether its well taken care of or not compared to a man made leather like leatherete. After 6 years my leatherete looks the exact same as it did 6 years ago when it was new, I dont think thats possible with real leather. Just look on ebay or any other car ads at pics of interiors with real leather and leatherete, the leatherete always looks brand new compared to the real stuff. Its very hard to tell a difference between leatherete and real leather if you dont know any better which is why leatherete is perfect for me, plus i dont have to worry about conditioning it half as much as the Nissan.

Leatherette wears faster and looks tacky if not well taken care, and its more prone to scuffs and rips. Real QUALITY leather lasts ages. Besides you can feel the difference, leather just feels better.

According to the 2003 Audi A4 Sedan equipment list:

Cloth upholstery is standard on the 1.8T & not available on the 3.0
Leather seating inserts are an option on the 1.8T and standard on the 3.0
"Genuine Buffalino full-leather seat upholstery; door inserts, front/rear center armrest, shift **** and sterring wheel in matching leather" is an option on the 3.0 & not available on the 1.8T
