Default 2003 A4 Wiper Problem

Hello all! I own a 2003 A4 1.8T Quattro. Recently the wiper "pissers" stopped working. I noticed that I can't hear the motor run or anything. The wipers still work fine, and the fuses are all good. The "pissers" for my headlights don't come up either. I'm thinking it's a motor problem, but after a talk with the service guy at a local Audi garage, he said there are 2 motors (1 for the windshield and 1 for the lights). Seems a little odd to me that both are bad. I was wondering if anyone here has had similar issues, and if so, how it was fixed. I'm a big do-it-yourself guy, and restore classic cars as a hobby, so wrenching isn't a big deal to me.

Any help would be appreciated!!!!!

Mike

well the ones for the headlights only come up when you have your low beams on and then pull the wiper stalk or turn on the high beams and then pull the wiper stalk. it does seem odd that they both went bad. it's most likely an electrical problem. maybe your stalk died

The lights were definitely on when I tried.

This summer when I was coming home from the beach I had to stop on I-95 around DC. The cars in front of me all stopped. The dude behind me decided not to. He hit us doing around 30-40 (he couldn't remember). Anyway, when he hit us we slid a good 10 feet and hit the car stopped in front of us. It sucked. Buckeled the whole back of the car, good bit of damage. Even the front took some damage. I'm wondering if the accident may have caused the problems with the wipers. I understand that they are tucked in behind the front bumper. It'd be odd that all of the sudden 5 months later they stopped. That's the bummer.

Yeah, I didn't think that was the case about having to be moving. Neither "pissers" are coming on. The Audi tech I talked to said to see if anything was clogged, but I can't imagine that a clog would cause both motors to not work! He was hinting that it'd be better if i brought the car in.

It even does the 3 swipes then one a few seconds later jsut like when you actually clean the windshield.

Any idea what the motors are actually called? Maybe I can order replacements from somewhere and give it a shot.

With a little research I found that I can get a Washer Pump pretty cheap. Is there much involved in a replacement? I don't want to take it to a garage.

Disregard the above posts. Newbie mistake. I did some searching on the site and found that the pumps go quite often. I'm going to pick one up and give it a shot.
