2003 Audi A4 2.8 Auto
ok first of all i did use the search but there is no post on DIY flushing tranny fluid and changing oil !
this is not my car so i'm not really familiar with everything. and this is the first time i'm doing a oil change on this car. i'm usually used to my car but I have to change the oil and tranny fluid on my bros car. +++ i haven't put this car on the ramp yet so i haven't seen whats underneath please don't flame me anyways need to do oil change and tranny fluid on a ramp. need a DIY for it with pictures cause i like pictures better

another problem is that i hear noises by the steering when i turn it around clockwise and counter clock wise i don't know if its the bearings or if it needs to be lubed.

This car isn't very old, do you really need to change out the tranny fluid already?

Can you give more info on the steering problem. What kind of noise do you hear, do you hear it all the time, does it change as speed increases.

Your car isn't old enough that I would think you would have problems with tie rod ends etc. How many miles does the car have?

well theres like 80,000 miles on it and i think its time to change the tranny oil. and far as for the steering goes when the car is in idle and when i turn the wheels to the left or right it makes this moan kinda noise.

Isn't it supposed to make a moan sound. That would be the sound of the power steering pump. You hear it more at idle because the car is quiet and because it is more difficult to turn the wheels when the car is not moving so the pump is working harder than it would with the car at speed. Please correct me if I am mistaken.

I would assume you don't hear the moan at speed and that the moan isn't all that loud even at idle.

Here is a post.

http://www.fastaudi.net/a4/library/oilchange.html

These are directions for a B5, but they say it is the same procedure, may just look a little different. If you have done oil changes before, you should be able to figure it out. Usually for me, the hardest part of changing oil on an unfamiliar car is just finding the oil filter.

I saw a post about changing tranny fluid recently, but that was B5 also and I am not sure if it had pics. Hopefully someone else knows about a DIY for the B6.

BTW, most common problem I have read about is people draining tranny fluid instead of oil. Just make sure you empty the right one and that when you refill it, it comes to the right level.

Here is a link to recommended oils:

https://www.audiforums.com/m_16044/tm.htm

Use anything on this page. I think the most popular is 0W-40 from Mobil 1, (a bunch of Amsoil users too), but any of these are good, def us synthetic.

Ok thats all I got. Someone else can hopefully help you with the tranny fluid change or find DIY oil change for the B6.

Good luck.

in the UK 2003 a4 is a 3.0 don't know about over there though I don't think it alters anything, the early ones has a transmission dip stick the later ones have it blanked but you still use it to refill the tranny
