2004 audi a4 cvt lost all drive help!
my wifes driving along steady approx 70mph and starts to loose power, then for a split second theres a noise like a loud low hydraulic moan (sounds like the wife
and immediately looses all drive and rolls to a stop, turned it off and restarted and no forward drive or reverse and no noise but slightly grates as put back into park.
there were no flashing warning lights on dash ect.
went and picked her up with my recovery truck and plugged in latest launch diagnostic, comes up with no fault codes at all historic or present.
looked under car, no leaks, start the engine and select drive and rev, no noise from gearbox and no drive,
had a few of these and its been the best cvt iv ever driven, so smooth and no hint of any problems,
can anyone point me in the right direction please??, what on earths happened!?
any help much appreciated, thanks :-)

REVISION HISTORY
Vehicle will not move in any gear.
Technical Background
ATF pump border bushing may fail and cause a loss of oil pressure. The ATF pump is incorporated in the valve body. The pump is not a serviceable part.
Production Solution
Improved ATF pump incorporated in the valve body from January 2004 vehicle production.
Service
It is not necessary to receive an authorization number from the Technical Assistance Center for the repair described in this bulletin.
Attach VAS scan tool printouts to the repair order. Warranty requested documents received without VAS scan tool printouts will be denied payment.
1. Run the engine at idle. Set the parking brake and place the transmission selector lever in drive (D). Do not press the brake pedal once drive is engaged. Read and print MVB Group 15. If display field 3 reads 0 (zero) or the difference between MVB 15/3 (Actual pressure) and 15/4 (Nominal pressure) is greater than 2 bar, proceed to line 3.
2. If the difference between MVB 15/3 and 15/4 is less than 2 bar, contact the Technical Assistance Center for repair authorization.

3. If ATF contains metal particles larger than 1mm (Figure 1), replace the transmission and the ATF pressure filter according to the Repair Manual.

4. If no metal particles or only slightly shimmering particles are found in the ATF (Figure 2) , remove the valve body and inspect the oil pump drive gear on the end of the shaft protruding from the valve body (Figure 3).

5. If the gear is chipped or damaged, replace the transmission.
6. If the gear is not damaged, replace the valve body according to the Repair Manual.

It sounds like a fatal transmission problem. Sometimes a software update or TCM replacement will help with shudders/vibrations in CVT's, but its not a good sign that your car will not move. I'm surprised there are no faults stored in the TCM.
