2005 A4 Coupe
It's definitely NOT the 2005 A6. But I still wonder about something...
The rear door-handles are located on the leading edge - like "suicide" doors! I don't know what this means! This could be a chopped car or it could be a 2005 A3 four door.

From a U.K. perspective, an Audi salesman told me that there is an A4 Coupe scheduled to arrive in 2005, although exactly when is still a mystery.
From a personal viewpoint, the bad news is that, instead of keeping the sleeker existing grille, it will come with the redesigned grille fitted to the new A6. To me, it looks like it was taken off a truck, but then I like the current BMW 5 Series design, so maybe I'll get used to it. However, just as with the Mercedes-Benz 'teardrop' headlights, it's going to rapidly date older models. Pardon me for being cynical, but that sounds like a deliberate ploy by the manufacturer to make people invest in a new model.
Incidentally, the Audi salesman I spoke to was unaware that cruise control is a shocking UKP 400.00 optional extra (A4 Cabriolet price list) in the U.K., something which is virtually standard kit on a BMW/Mercedes-Benz.
My current (Coupe) options are as follows:-
Audi Coupe (2005)
BMW 4 Series (2006)
Mercedes-Benz CLK 200K
Volvo C50/70 (2005/?)
It's really a question of price and residual values. Despite excellent residual values, convertibles are out of the question, not just because of the U.K. climate, but because of vulnerability to external attack by thieves/car-jackers, especially as I would not be the sole driver.
For the record, my first car was a 1977 Audi 80 and I followed that with a 1978 Audi 100 GL-5E (great engine, shame about the bodywork rust). There was no power steering in those days, just ‘power arms’! I currently drive a 1995 Mercedes-Benz E200-124 and would probably buy another Mercedes, but I get the impression that Mercedes-Benz have taken their eye off the ball in terms of reliability and build quality, not what I expect from a product with that sort of price tag.

Also, let's look at the whole derivation of the suicide door: with that style door, if you got out of the car while it was moving and were swept under it, it was considered suicide. Hence, suicide door. But wait a second, if you get out of ANY car while it's moving you're pretty much screwed as it is. So wouldn't that make ALL doors "suicide doors?"
This is the predicament. Ponder it, if you will, at your own liesure.

It was a Cabriolet with a customized hard top shell (a la MB SLK). Some private company did it for a show in Europe somewhere.
