I purchased my new Audii A4 2.Ot last month and have just turned 1,200 miles. I love everything about is car except for the turbo lag that occurs when applying the throttle from a dead stop. There is a one second delay that can be extremely disconcerting when attempting to make a left turn in heavy traffic. Once the turbo kicks in the car accelerates very quickly

I was told by the dealership that this is a common complaint and that I'd just have to get used to it. They said that the delay is due to the Tiptronic transmission. I've learned to drive around town in the sports mode which seems to help some. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I just bought an 2011 A4 auto cvt.....and driving a loaner of the same features for a day. I can not believe the delay from a dead stop.

I drove a awd / fwd at one dealer then fwd / awd drive another dealer. I don't recall a delay anywhere near this bad.

I am seriously questioning this purchase. Is this turbo lag or a characteristic of this tranny design? This is the same on the quattro

 

returned the loaner and picked up my car.

mine is not nearly as bad...but still not great. Sales guy says i 'have to learn how to drive it'....learn to driv my new 35k car....

Sorry, but i think that is a shitty design. I have never driven a car that when i step on the gas.....it......delays

 

I've learned to drive my Audi A4 2.0 in the manual mode which reduces, but does not eliminate the turbo lag. I've also learned to "feather" the accelerator from a stop. Except for the turbo lag, I really love this car. I can't understand why the Audi engineers cannot correct the problem.
