22 on hwy, is it normal for 97 2.8Q 5spd?
on user's manual it is said 22/27. i usually get 20 in local and i think it may be due to hard accelerating. when it was warm, i can get 24 on hwy. last weekend i had an around trip to PA from NJ and i just got 22. the speed was about 80-85 and rpm ~3400. i changed plugs, air and fuel filters recently. is the weather a factor? and will it save much gas if i drive at 60 instead of 80? but i will lose my focus at 60mph.
your pre-cat O2 sensors can have a huge effect on gas mileage. i have a 96 2.8 w/140k miles and i get about 20mpg. doesn't matter if it's all freeway or all hard city driving, i always get almost exactly 20mpg, i'm pretty sure it's an o2 sensor problem. how many miles are on yours?
for the 12v:
City (Manual/Auto): 19 / 18 mpg (19 / 18 mpg quattro)
Highway (Manual/Auto): 27 / 28 mpg (26 / 27 mpg quattro)
Combined (Manual/Auto): 23 / 23 mpg (22 / 21 mpg quattro)

thank guys for the information shared.
my audi has 118,000
i use premium and get ~330 hwy and ~260 local per tank (13-14 gal when gas light on)
the bank1 sensor 2 ( post cat. O2 sensor) is dead. ppl told me the post cat. sensor won't affect mileage. because i am not sure bank1 means driver side or not so i am still live with it. i know it is not fair for my baby. it serves me very well.
one more question: do you guys use lucas oil stabilizer?
