Default 414.5

So I finally reached the elusive 400+ miles on one tank of gas in a B5 1.8T. I made it to 414.5 miles before getting gas and quenching her thirst. I probably could have squeezed a few more out of her but my display was reading 5 to go and there was a gas station right next to me so I caved.

I was using 93 octane and shockingly they were not all highway, probably a little more than half were though. I did baby it a lot in hopes of hitting this pivotal moment but I got on it a little every now and then. I'm shooting for 500 next.

What the hell.... I am so pissed off... WHY can't I get even close? With like 85% highway miles??? Lately it's like a landmark for me to get 300... haven't even done that in a while... better stop before I get too pissed...[:@]

Good for you though... []

you have issues if you're struggling to get to 300 miles on a tank of gas with mostly highway driving. how old is your air filter? spark plugs? when was the last time you ran fuel injector cleaner through the car? do you have a flat tire(s)? does the car need an alignment badly?

there's no way you should be under 300 miles with that much highway driving, unless your idea of highway driving is 90mph.

Even at 90 I think it should be better than 300 miles per tank.

you're probably right. I do about 50/50 highway and city driving, and I easily get 300 miles out of a tank without really babying it too much. in fact, I've only gotten under 300 miles to a tank once since I've had the car, and that was the first tank after I bought it. it was full when I picked up the car, and I don't know what gas was in it. I also drove it a bit harder, because it was new and I was having fun with it.
