4awg power wire problems
I've recently installed an amp and sub enclosure in my 03 A4.
I ran the 4awg power wire from the battery, down the drivers side and to the trunk. about 3 days after the install, the panels near my right foot that run along the drivers side started popping out. I think a clip broke because the trim is not snapping back into place - though, i dont see any plastic peices sheered off or missing.
I guess the 4 awg just doesn't fit well under that trim - anyone have any suggestions or ideas on how to run it better?
I chose 4 awg because my amp is a 600W pushing 90AMP. 8 awg would be too small no?
Thanks !!

I ran my 4 guage sub wire along the passenger side, but it should be the same as the driver's. I've not had any problem with that panel popping out, or any other routing issues. It's been a while so I don't remember exactly how the panel attaches, but I do remember that I had no shortage of room. Sorry, not much help except to say that your approach should work, unless the driver's side really is different.
Fixed it!
The power wire was ran a little funny to begin with, not straight. It forced the plastic upwards, and the pins did not go with it, they snapped out from the top peice and remained in place. So when i pushed the plastic back down - no snapping.
After removing the pins from the floor, re-inserting them back into the plastic and re-routing the power wire in a straight line, everything snapped into place.
Thanks all!

How ever you did/do it, just make sure that you run the power and rca's on opposite sides of the car. I had no problems running 4 gauge power wire under the trim on the drivers side, but I have a b5, so its probably a little different.
I avoided running RCA's and just tapped the line level outputs that were heading into the factory AMP. For a sub i figured this would be a clean enough signal.
I'm not using a lineoutput converter since i'm not tapping into speaker level wire... but, I do hear a very low-freq rumbling that does not appear to be affected by the volume control. It is coming from the sub, even at 0 volume.
Could this be because i ran my sirius antenna along my power wire?
Is this some electrical interference i can get rid of without a large impact to signal quality?
I'm not sure if this happens just while listening to satelite or if it's happening all the time, I'll check though.
Thanks.

you can run rcas right next to the power wire as long as it is going to power a subwoofer and the amp have a low pass filter (most amps do) a sub will not play the alternater whine since a sub only plays from 20Hz to about 200Hz. just an fyi
but even if it does have a lpf its still not suggested to run them next to each other it can cause oter issues as well
