96 A4 2.8 Quattro $6500 Price & Repair Opinions?
I went to check out a 96 A4 2.8 Quattro last night. It's a 5 speed with 91k miles and one owner. The car is black/grey with cloth interior. Asking price is $6500.
The car is fairly clean, but there are some things that needs repairs. I've listed the repairs & estimates below and was wondering if I am in the right ballpark? I will likely use an independent Audi mechanic.
$1100 90k service & timing belt
$700 sunroof guide track repair (sunroof won't stay on track while opening/closing)
$400 AC/Heater Display Control (AC works but display lights disappear & blank out intermittenly)
$200 Stereo Replacement (Stereo works but display lights don't work)
$1000 Clutch replacement (possibly in the near future)
Any feedback on the vehicle price and/or repair costs would be appreciated.

The stereo and A/C display lights are all part of the same problem; I'd think that price could be consolidated into one labor price.
The sunroof issue seems way to high; you can practically buy a new one for that price!
The 90K sevice with timing belt can be cheaper, too.
Oh, and the price for the car... sounds ok; maybe you could offer 6k because of all the repairs needed.

90k service price is kinda high I was quote $800 at and audi/porshe service sation and about 1000 at the dealler
I agree the stereo and ac display sound related it could be coincidence but I doubt it posibly a worn wire grounding out or a bad ground..maybe just a loose plug

Woah!!! $800 - $1100 a service????? Thats the best part of £450 - £600 here in good old Scotland!
I just put my Audi thru it's 90k service last week and it only cost me £215 ('bout $450ish) and the only thing needing done was the brakes (an extra £150)
You guys across the pond seem to be getting stung.
Phil
