Default 97 2.8 needs help

Hey everyone my names tim i jsut recently bought a 97 a4 i previously ahd a 99 2.8 but i managed to roll that over after hitting a ditch on the side of the road. but ne ways.

1) I aleady know i need front sus work it squeaks and squeals like hell.

2)Right after i got the car i had the timming belt replaced by a local mechanic to avoid paying audi for service. But ever since the cars doesnt seem to run as good as it had previously. the belt the belt whines (Car isnt as quiet anymore) and im not sure if its from the timming but since ive had the timming done when i down **** into second if i have my windows down and radio off i can hear a utter comming from under ta car almost like a faint back fire or clapping noise. I suspected anything from a heat shield rattling wierd or a tranny exhaust or engine problem. any suggestions on wat it might be would be a great help.

3) also i noticed my ac isnt working it mosly like jsut in need of a charge or should i be worried aobut having to replace the entire compressor i dont kno how to tell if its working right.

4) the lights behind my guage cluster arent lighting up from the middle up is dark the botoms fine but how do i get in behind there to replace them? i jsut dont want to mess anything up a kno well not 2 bad neways

2. your tb may just be too tight....or it may just need to be broken in, mine whined for a couple weeks when i had it replaced, now it's fine....

3. i guess start with a recharge, there's no point in replacing the compressor if it's not broken..

4. remove the steering column surround, remove the screws underneath the gauges, and wiggle the gauge off, the bulbs need to be bought at a dealership

EDIT: search the forum archives before asking questions, some of the exact same questions were asked just yesterday iirc....

if it a burble that is normal for 12v engines...or it could be a cat starting to go

this is common not to hard just little lights on the back of the cluster i have picks ....a short how to... you can pick up the cluster bulbs at the dealer (orange top ones)

1... take off the top molding.... should pull off sorta twords you and up (two little clamp things hold it on the bottom)

2.. pull back black shroud [IMG][/IMG]

3...undo two hex/torx? screws [IMG][/IMG]
quote]

forgot to keep taking picks

4...wiggle whole cluster out... be carefull attached on back is two plugs and one single light.

5.... unattach plugs and light

6... remove broken light bulbs and replace with new ones

7...reverse order to put back in
