Default 97-99 Differences

Hey everyone,

Im looking to maybe buy an A4, most likely a 1.8T quattro of some kind. I was wondering what the differences between the '97, '98, and '99 A4's were? Thanks alot!

get a 2001-2002 if you want a b5. They come stock with 180hp instead of 150hp. If you got a 97-99 you would have to get an ecu flash just to match a stock 01-02.

Nuyorka - what are you talking about - only the 01 comes with 170hp( not 180hp) and the best A4 is the 99.5 because you have all the modability of the AEB engine and all the Looks of the upgraded body. And a chipped 01 doesn't have more hp than a chipped 96-00 - the only reason it has 170hp is a very small turbo modification.

Thanks for the replys, sorry i didnt see that link thanks for pointing it out to me. That link you gave me said there was alot of interior changes between 1998 and 1998.5 and it doesnt really list what they are, does anyone happen to know what they might be, did they add the Bose or something or is there more to it than that? Thanks

+1

Get the 99.5 with a clutch if you can. I have a 98.5 but if I had known what akielb said when I was looking for one, I would have held off for a 98.5. I do love my 98.5, though.

the door panels are nicer, the whole center dash area is different, buttons are in different locations, it looks a lot newer, the dome lights and moon roof buttons are different/upgraded, some of the seats have perferrated (spelling?) leather, the center console is a different design, the e-brake looks a little different.. the exterior looks different also, it comes with WAYYYY cleaner looking headlights and tail lights, the side markers look a lot cleaner and newer, the side skirts are different, and the side mirrors dont come in two different sizes (mine dont anyways on my '01)

get a 99.5-01, you wont regret it, the car looks a lot newer inside and out.
