97 have carbon fiber driveshafts?

I read somewhere a while ago that the 97 A4 1.8 was the lightest ever built as it had a carbon fiber drive shaft or something. Anybody know anything about that?...

Yea a former member David_K that is no longer on here i believe had them. His dad custom made them for him and he used them. I dont believe there is anyplace you can get them.

i belive the 97 2.8 have them also. i belive they are solid metal with a carbon wraping unlike later ones that just are hollow??? it is realy strong but also very very heavy. newer ones are somewere 20-30% lighter <--- my guess
