Has anyone done any mods ( headers, exhaust, chips) to the 2.8 motor?
I see there are many mods for the turbo, how about the atmo engine in the A4?

modding a 2.8 doesnt work. Its more for the "sick audi" factor. lol...

2.8's cant really be fast, ill sh** myself if i ever see one break into the 14's, lol...

you can get an intake from ebay, it has a very nice sound, and you can get an exhaust shop to make a custom exhaust for you...

after that you can port and polish the throttle body, maybe get some headers (never really seen any)

if i were you, get some tint, a system, some rims, and drop it...and roll out in style

 

Yeah i noticed a slight pick up in power with just intake and exhaust. I found a intake on ebay with K&N filter for 60 bucks. All i did for the exhaust was new 2 and 3/4 piping back from the cats to a upgraded resignator (anything is an upgrade from stock those stock resignators are basically mufflers). And then i put a nice Dual tip eurotech turbo muffler on. But make sure you do the right resignator because those things get so loud you will wanna kill yourself. They are still quick but if you are looking for quarter mile performance id trade it in on a s4.

 

chip= 10hp+-
catback exhaust preferably milltek= 10hp+-
intake= 10hp+-
supercharger= 90+hp
In total your looking at well over $7000. With that you could sell it and get an S4. Headers are pretty much custom, no one sells them. Another thing possilbe is cylinder head honing which slightly increases the CCs adding more power. All these options are expensive and the hp gains are not worth it.
Supercharged 2.8s regularly go into the low 14s, and with custom engine work, intakes, straight pipes, and alot of weight trimming they'll even break 13s. With the right amount of money and time 2.8 can be really freakin fast. But it would be better to get an S4 and be really fast to begin with.

 

I wonder if you would pick up some speed by swapping for a 1.8t quattro tranny.... I know that the 1.8s are faster with the 2.8 trannys.....granted they have a bt.

 

a 1.8 with a 2.8 is faster in terms of top speed, not acceleration.

so for better acceleration, I suppose a 1.8 tranny in a 2.8 would work. Someone correct me, please.

I think I'll leave the white 98 2.8Q alone as far as engine mods go. I'm interested in an exhaust. I was wondering how any of you like the exhausts you or a friend have purchased.
I'm not selling the car. It's my wifes. I want to look into buying a low mileage 1.8Q. If it has some mods, great. I'd love to find one with a suspension and an intake/exhaust on it. Not really looking for the killer 1.8. I would just buy the S4.
