99.5 2.8 Quattro exhaust
Has anyone tried to modify a performance muffler application for an S4 on a B5 2.8 Quattro? Is it even possible? The reson why I ask is because there are alot more options for the S4. Or is the rear section off a 1.8T Quattro the same? That would be the best case senario. I'm just looking for axle back, not to concerned with performance but will remove the mid section and replace it with a test pipe. The only concern is that its not too loud. The only systems I've found are Milltek and Greddy. Ultimately I would like to get the Milltek. But that would be for all out performance, looks and sound. Not worth it for my application. If there are other options for less money I would consider it. I'm in the US and can no longer find anyone who sell Remus either.
Well I went ahead and bought a Remus full cat back exhaust for a B5 S4 Bi-turbo and put it on my B5 A4 2.8 Quattro. Just to let everyone know, it went on without any problems. Practically a direct swap from OEM except I replaced the slip joints and had the pipes extended to meet up to the pipes coming off the cats. I had the whole system welded at the seams. Sound is great...subtle but throaty when you get on it. You can not hear it when it sits at idle. I will say that for performance I may have some hp gains but can not say about torque. The lag in the 2-3Krpm range is gone except for in second. 1st and 3rd seems a bit more responsive. If I get around to it I will post a sound clip and some pics. Hope this helps for all those out there with 2.8 Quattro's looking for a little more performance, sound, and cosmetics.
