Default 99.5 A4 2.8 V6 Manual Quattro

Is this year and model not a well made car? It seems that people have had numerous problems with this car. I'm about to buy one of these with 53,000 miles and only driven on weekends and in unbelieveable shape. Will the timing belt and water pump go like everyone elses? How much does it cost to repair this? I'm nervous about all the repairs needed for this car. I appreciate any help. PLEASE SHARE YOUR INPUT. THANKS!!!

no, this is a good year. and the 2.8 is the more reliable of the two. the timing belt will need to be changed at 70 to 80k.

for everythin (ie: belt, tensioner, idler, water pump, thermostat) look for a price of 700-800. some have gotten it cheaper and if you DIY its a LOT cheaper. dealership will charge bout a grand so dont go to them.

damn 700-800 to change the timing belt and water pump? i'm getting a 98.5 a4 2.8q tomorrow and wow, that's pretty damn expensive compared to my civic, which is like 400 to change it. oh well, there goes my change in my pocket.
