99.5 Audi A4 Quattro 2.8 Manual
Hi, I think i'm about to buy a 99.5 Audi A4 Quattro 2.8 Manual but I have read a lot of reviews and posts from different people about this car. It seems that the timing belt and water pump must be changed around the 60,000 mile mark. This car has 53,000 miles and is in unbelievable shape, and was only driven on the weekends. What do you think about this car? This might be my first Audi. What should I be aware of? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
Okay in that case go for it. From the sound of it it is mint and has great miles for that year. The timing belt doesn't have to be changed at 60k, I always heard it should be changed at around 100k, you there is prob a good amount of life left in it. Take it for a spin, if it has a 3 spoke wheel then its the sport package, which is sick. good luck
you were thinkin 1.8T...and for good reason, cuz thats the audi you wana get
. check out the stickies at the top of the page they will be a great help. what it breaks down to is the 2.8 has practically no mods but is more reliable. the 1.8T has mods galore but is less reliable than the v6. so if ur happy with close to 200 hp i would advise the 2.8. or if ur gona wana mod the car get a 1.8T. o and whatever you do dont get the 2.8 12v, if ur gona getthe 2.8 make sure its a 30v. and timing belt is ok for like 70-80k and some have no problems going to 110k, its just we change them at 70-80k to prevent it from blowin up ur engine[:-]

yea i have that same car. its a great car it has 93k miles on it and i bought it at 60k three years ago. it still runs perfect. stock i tihnk the 2.8 is a little faster but if youare planning to add things to your car i would try and look for a 1.8T. even though i love my car with all of my heart
i wish i had gotten a 1.8T. the reason i didnt was b/c when i bought the car i wasnt realyl into cars and the 2.8 looked jsut like the 1.8T and sine i didnt think i was goign to want to modify it i knew the 2.8 was faster. but anywasy i love my car and youll love audis theyre GREAT cars!

ya 3 more valves each cylinder makes for bout 20 more hp and a little extra torque. also the interior and taillights are dif. and the 30v is more reliable (although some people say the 12v is more reliable so i dunno for sure...anyone?)
Get the 2.8 30v, I have one, and it feels so much more powerfull compared to my buddys 1.8T, well thats prolly only cuz its stock, but so is my 2.8, if you want you can get a tap chip, it will ad 15 horses, and get an intake, and your chyll for little amount of money. I kill beamers in 2nd gear. oh yeah mines a quattro and sports package.
